Canada made history at the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City as a record five players from the Great White North heard their names called.

After none were taken in the opening round, offensive tackle Matthew Bergeron joined the Atlanta Falcons with the 38th overall pick, setting the stage for a record-setting weekend for Canadians.

Illinois safety Sydney Brown became a Philadelphia Eagle in the third round at #66 before the New England Patriots went with Eastern Michigan guard Sidy Sow in the fourth round at #117.
newline
Ole Miss edge rusher Tavius Robinson was taken seven picks later by the Baltimore Ravens, and Sydney’s identical twin brother Chase Brown rounded out the draft when the Cincinnati Bengals took the former Illinois running back in the fifth round at #163.

The five Canadians chosen breaks the previous record of four set in 2021 when safety Jevon Holland, cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, receiver Josh Palmer, and running back Chuba Hubbard all get selected.
newline
Since 2011, at least one Canadian has been chosen during the draft, but in recent years, more have come off the board, with 14 selected since 2020.
newline
Overall there have been 75 Canucks who’ve had the privilege of being drafted into the NFL since the start of the Super Bowl era in 1966.
newline
Sydney and Chase are only the sixth twin brothers in NFL history to be taken in the same draft class, the first since 2020 when Khalil and Carlos Davis were both drafted.
newline
As for Robinson, the former Guelph Gryphon became the first player from that program to be drafted south of the border.

All five Canadians chosen are still eligible for selection at the CFL Draft on May 2; however, given their opportunities in the NFL, they are not expected to be chosen until the later rounds.
